This is a new addition to the Oval Bowl Gouge line. I decided to make one because the 5/8″ was an absolute delight to turn with… I could not stop thinking about a massive 3/4″ . Jerry introduced the Oval line in 1966 and he literally was the first manufacturer to devise the proper flute angles and proper mass and stability. I can tell you this is a monster gouge and it comes assembled on a 20″ Glaser Handle…You will not believe its power!

The flute shapes are precision ground using state of the art CNC Grinding Machines. Then, they are hardened and cryogenically tempered and subjected to our proprietary “Surface Compacting Technology” which enhances the surface of the steel. The process creates a “micro burr” surface which proves to be “extremely effective” on the cutting edge of the tool.

Although we’ve sharpened our tools before we ship, the initial grind is placed just to allow the woodturner to start using the tools right away. It is up to the user to determine if he/she wants to keep the same grind shape after initial use.
